Job Descriptions for Meet Volunteers


Clerk of Course-

Helps the coach to get the swimmers assembled prior to their race. Will call out the event you are assembling in general seating area and place each swimmer in order of their heat and lane. (Coaches can help finishing swimmers if needed.)

Computer Entry-

Enter swimmers times into a computer after each race


Concessions-

There are different jobs needed to run the concession tent:

**Setup and food prep -

Arrive early to assist the Concessions Directors with setup and food prep. Return at the end of the meet to assist with tear down and stowing of equipment.  PLEASE NOTE: Arrival time is 3:30 pm.

**Concessions workers-

Be present during the swim meet to work the concession stand. 

**Grill Master- help cook hot dogs and hamburgers at meet


Event/Heat Flipper-

Responsible for turning over the correct Event and Heat number on the display sign during the meet.


Finish Judge -

Responsible for determining the order of finish of each heat. The Finish Judge will list the swimmers, by lane number only, in order of finish on a "Finish Judge Sheet" then give the results after each heat to the Runner.


Floater-

Responsible for assisting other volunteer jobs as needed. Possibly filing in temporarily while other volunteers take a short break to watch their children swim.


Lane Recorder/Timer-

Timer and Recorder will work together to time and record each event accurately. Timers will start their clocks at the starting signal and stop their clocks when the swimmer in their lane touches for the finish. There is one timer per lane (you need to record times for all swimmers in your lane even if they are not Waterstone swimmers.) The recorder will help the Timer record the swimmers name and time for each event accurately.

Meet Set-up & Clean Up-

Help Nicole Kenney prep pool deck before the Meet and Clean Up after. Prep/Set-Up

from 3:30-4:30 and Clean Up will be for 15-30 min after the Meet is over.

*PLEASE NOTE: you need to arrive at 3:30 to help set up.


Ribbons -

Distribute ribbons to swimmers after their events.


Runner-

Responsible for picking up the sheets from each of the Lane Recorders and the Finish Judge along with possible DQ (disqualification) sheets from the stroke judge and delivering them to the Scorer's Table at the end of each race. The job requires a great deal of walking.


Stroke Judge-

Must ensure that all rules relating to the style of swimming designated for the event are being observed and shall record any violation of strokes on the assigned sheet of paper (DQ sheets) in detail. Must attend training clinic 6/1 to volunteer for this position.
